Bottom Paint & Hull Paint for 53’ 1977 Hatteras Motor Yacht

We recently had the pleasure of restoring this 1977, 53 foot Hatteras Motor Yacht to its full glory. All Hatteras Yachts feature a solid fiberglass bottom, making them long lasting and extremely sturdy. That’s why this ’77 Hatteras is still going strong.

Due to some storm damage from Hurricane Irma, the owner decided it was time to do a complete color change of the hull while we were repairing the fiberglass damage. We went from a dingy sea foam green to a beautiful Awlcraft 2000 Flag blue. At the owners request we went Hinckley style with Interlux Ultra red ablative bottom paint, white boot strip and a gold pin stripe.

After hauling the her out of the water, noticed that the spray rail was badly damaged by worms. That was the first thing to go. Our guys had quite a bit of prep to do which included removing all the existing grime, barnacles and previous bottom coatings. We also needed to replace some of the thru hulls and repair a rather large hole in the fiberglass. We started by working on the fiberglass boat repair portion first and then tackled the rest of the items on our list.

The paint job turned out amazing and the client was extremely happy as well. Learn more about out boatyard and fiberglass repair services.
