Choose the Right Outboard for your Boat

mercury outboard dealer

Mercury Verado is the premiere outboard design for performance.  Offering a range of choices, it is important to understand which motor will provide you with your desired power and capability.  In general the maximum rated horsepower listed on your boat’s capacity plate should be followed, but a comparison of Mercury Verado outboard motors may be important to understand what each can offer your vessel.  Whichever you choose, though, you can be confident that you are selecting the quietest, smoothest, most controlled outboard available.

What else should be updated during a repower?

While you could conceivably deal with a repower only, it would not be in the best interest of your boat to ignore some other updates and potential upgrades.  In every case, new fuel system components should be installed – including replacement of all fuel hoses – during any repower if not more frequently.  The battery system and cables should also be looked at for replacement during repower for the good of the entire system.  Why struggle with outdated systems while enjoying a new outboard, though?  Other components to consider updating include:

  • mercury throttle & shiftsteering
  • throttle and shift
  • additional wiring and cables
  • electrical harnasses
  • battery cables
  • instruments – newer digital instruments offer better features, including better fuel consumption gauges that address the best speed for fuel efficiency
  • upholstery
  • radios
  • bilge pumps
  • glasswork
  • trailer
